Farewell Sing – Friday, June 5th

Our Farewell Sing will take place on Friday, June 5th, at 9:30 am in the Church Sanctuary. All children (both am and pm) will come to school and be dropped off at 9:00 am. Pineapple Room and Little Green Room children should go directly to the playground. Blue Room children should go to the gym. All other children should go to their classrooms.

After you drop off your children, please find a seat in the Sanctuary. As a reminder, no food or beverages are allowed in the Sanctuary. At the end of the Sing, we will ask that all families remain seated while we dismiss the children. We will let you know where to meet them.

We will record the Sing and send you a link to view the video, so please feel free to sit back and enjoy. We ask that those of you who would like to take your own pictures sit in the balcony. We must keep the aisles and space in front of the stage clear for fire safety and so that the children don’t get overwhelmed.

Please join us in Beecher Garden following the Sing for watermelon, lemonade, and a celebration of our year together.

Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found bin is full!

Next week, we will set up a table in Beecher Garden with all unclaimed items. Any items not picked up by the last day of school will be donated to the Underground Thrift Shop.

Bake Sale Story

This week in Chapel we celebrated our school-wide community service project. This project culminated with Plymouth filling the fridge on Henry Street multiple times with fresh food for people who need it. Adrienne wrote the following story to help the children reflect on all the good work they had done to care for others in their community. We wanted to share it here with all of you.

Once upon a time, a few days ago, all of the children and all of the teachers and all of the grown-ups at Plymouth Church School decided that they wanted to show their community how much they cared about everyone.

But how to do this? What to do?

It was decided that we would have a very special bake sale filled with delicious treats to raise money to buy fresh food to fill the community fridge on Henry Street.

All of the children and all of the teachers got to work.

Posters were made to let everyone know that a bake sale was coming soon! Children used markers and pencils and watercolors and crayons to make big colorful signs. The signs were hung all over Plymouth Church School.

All of the children and all of the teachers got to work baking special treats. Children measured, mixed, stirred, scooped, pounded, chopped and baked. Plymouth smelled extra special for days.

All of the families got to work too baking special treats. Families measured, mixed, stirred, scooped, pounded, chopped and baked.

And on that special morning last Friday, the little kitchen was piled high with towers of delicious treats.

The Big Green Room children filled their arms with treats and walked all the baked goods over to the long tables in the arcade.

Throughout the school day, all of the Plymouth children, and all of the Plymouth teachers and all of the Plymouth grown-ups came to the sale and bought brownies and cookies and cake and all the delicious treats.

Some grown-ups came to the bake sale table more than once.

On Monday morning, the Big Green Room children counted all the money that was raised. Everyone was so happy because lots and lots of money was raised to help buy nutritious food for people who need it.

A few days later, in small groups, the Big Green Room children and their teachers took trips to the grocery store. Even in the rain!

They bought apples, bananas, yogurt, bread, carrots, celery, salad, peanut butter, applesauce and all sorts of nutritious food.

Bags were carried to the community fridge and guess what? The fridge wasn’t there! It moved across the street!

The new fridge was empty. But not for long! Very soon, it was filled full to the brim with all the food Plymouth children had brought.

Everyone was happy because, on that day, lots of people who needed food had plenty of food to eat. This happened two different times on two different days. The fridge was filled by Plymouth Church School.

Thank you, children, thank you teachers, thank you grown-ups for being such caring community members, and thank you for filling the fridge!

Vacation Bible Camp

This year, Plymouth Church’s Vacation Bible Camp theme is "Heroes of the Bible"! Through Bible stories, visits from local mission partners, and fun games and crafts, students will consider the needs of others and learn how God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things!

Children ages 3 years to entering 5th grade are invited to join us for a week of fun as we engage the GOALS of Plymouth Kids:

  • God: Deepen their relationship with God.

  • Outreach: Become aware of very real needs in their community and beyond.

  • Adventure: Participate in out-of-the-ordinary, fun activities and spark a sense of wonder.

  • Learning: Gain more knowledge about Scripture and its application.

  • Serving: Develop a posture of helpfulness and kindness toward others.

Our camp will run June 28-July 2, from 11-2:30 p.m. each day.

We do not want the cost of camp to restrict anyone’s participation. If you want to come and need to request a scholarship, please email Morgan.
